Tulsarama 2007

Ms. Belvedere in 2007 (picture from www.kotv.com)
This weekend was Tulsarama, unfortunately, Drew was too ill for us to go to any of the festivities. For those of you that don't know, this year Oklahoma is celebrating their 100th year of statehood. Fifty years ago, during their 50th Anniversary celebration, the city of Tulsa buried a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere and a time capsule in a vault under the sidewalk in front of the Tulsa County Courthouse downtown. The car and the time capsule were brought up this weekend, and unveiled last night. In 1957 a contest was held, and whomever guessed the correct population of Tulsa in 2007 would be win the Belvedere. In the event that that individual has passed, the car goes to his/her heirs. Unfortunately, Ms. Belvedere, as she has been affectionately called, had more rust and water damage than anyone anticipated, but the contents of the time capsule were undamaged. The unveiling was televised, and I was able to catch some of it between taking care of Drew and Mason. I have to admit that it was pretty cool.
