All you need is just a little patience

Well, it's been a few months now (as you can see), and Dixie still has her eye on the prize. She is hell bent on catching the squirrel that has built it's nest in this tree. She'll sit at the base of this tree for hours (literally) just waiting for her moment. The squirrel has taken it upon himself to start taunting her. He'll come about half way down and bark at her, which drives her absolutely nuts. She hooked on this squirrel. I've had to make her come in out of the rain on a couple of occasions, and she loathes the rain. When she can't watch him from outside she's watching from inside. She'll sit at the back window, and keep her eye on him. But hey, at least she's not getting into stuff she shouldn't when she's fixated on him! I don't know what I'll do if she does actually catch him.

I'm getting so big!

What is this?
(He recently discovered his feet, and he is constantly checking them out these days.)

Aren't I handsome?

Just chillin'

Wild, Wild Weather

Drew and I have been in Oklahoma for two years now, and I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the wild weather that tornado season brings each year. Some of you may recall my story from last year when I was in a client's home when the tornado sirens sounded off, and tornado be damned I was not getting in a closet with them. I frantically drove home (fortunately it wasn't very far), and Dixie and I barracaded ourselves in the closet - seizing it as an opportunity to rearrange the shoes. Well, the sirens haven't gone off in our neighborhood this year, but we have had our fair share of tornado warnings and other wild weather. I have truly been educated - wall clouds and wind gusts weren't necessarily something I worried about before!

This is what was left behind after a hail storm blew through our 'hood a few weeks ago.

Weather pics from last summer (from our back porch):
Check out today's weather.

Come on 7's - Lucky 7's

Drew and I lovingly refer to this toy on Mason's exersaucer as the baby slots! It's three spinning rings with different characters on them. He absolutely loves it. He gets them spinning so fast it sounds like a slot machine. Check out how focused he is. We joke that he's practicing to go to the boats with his Gran C and Nana. Let's hope Nana's luck rubs off on him!

Notice the dragon puppet - he likes to show his dragon some love on occasion. I've caught him trying to eat the dragon's face a few times, but I'm just not quick enough with the camera.

This is my nightly prayer . . .

Thank you Lord for everything you have given me today. Thank you for giving me such a beautiful and healthy baby boy. Thank you for giving me a husband who works so hard to provide for his family. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to stay home and watch Mason grow. Thank you for all the family and friends you've given us (no matter how far away they may be), and watch over and protect them tonight. Thank you for giving me a dog that prepared me for parenthood more than anyone ever could have imagined. Thank you for the daily lessons you've provided me.

I have come to realize that each and every day truly is a gift from God, and we should take something away from it. He is constantly providing us with lessons we can learn from; we just have to notice (even if that lesson is simply being thankful for what you have). I know it is cliche but having a baby changes everything, and I see the world from a whole new perspective and it is so awesome when you realize how blessed we are.
