Hurricane Update

Just wanted to give a quick update on our status since Hurricane Ike. First and foremost, we are all ok, and didn't suffer any major damage to our home. Fortunately, we were already planning to go home to East Texas for the weekend. The boys and I already had plans to stay a few extra days, and my mom would bring us back, which worked out great since we were out of power until Tuesday evening.

Our neighbor called on Saturday evening to let us know that we lost a few trees and our fence. Since we knew that we didn't have any power, Drew just came back on Monday morning for work. Thank you so much to RJ and Susan for letting Drew crash with them for a few days. And thanks to everyone that helped Drew cut up the trees that fell and clean the yard. Our water was out until Monday, and we still remain under a boil advisory. Our home phone is still out as well as our high speed Internet - I'm blogging using the wireless card. So if anyone needs to contact us try our cells. We are really fortunate to have electricity because there are many in our subdivision (just two houses down, in fact, that still don't have power). When you look at the zip code map our zip isn't scheduled to have power fully restored until Monday, 9/22nd.

The boys and I returned home yesterday (Thursday), and while Hurricane Ike has caused us some inconveniences I am so thankful that we didn't suffer any major damage and all of our friends and family weathered the storm okay.
