House Hunting, Work, and BBQ . . . Oh My

The last week of February was a very busy week for the Dyers. We drove into East Texas on the 23rd and celebrated Drew's birthday with his family.
We got up the next day and drove into Houston to begin our house hunting excursion. Sunday evening, we dined with Stephen and Allie and Mason had a blast playing with Ethan and Ryan - of course, I had left my camera at Drew's parent's home! Monday morning we got up to resume our house hunting - that is until, to my horror, Mason began projectile vomiting in the real estate agent's brand new car (it still had the paper tags on it). I think the poor little guy had just gotten a little motion sick - I was on the verge of it myself. We found a few great homes to put on our short list; however, since they still haven't made a decision about where to put Drew's new facility we were reluctant to pull the trigger on anything. Of course, our favorite houses have already sold!

Because Mason was feeling somewhat irritable, being out of his element and all, he and I pretty much stayed shut in at the hotel for a couple of days. He never ran any fever and didn't get sick anymore after Monday, but he did start teething to top it all off. Drew actually worked on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday evening we stopped by to visit RJ, Susan, and baby Eli - I still didn't have my camera - Mason was feeling much better at this point.

Thursday we dropped Drew off the hotel close to his team's BBQ site for World's Championship BBQ Contest to kick off the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. He stayed out there until Sunday. Mason and I would drive out to see him and grab a bite to eat each day. Travis (Drew's brother) was kind enough to bring my camera down when he showed up for the BBQ.

Drew's Cook Team - Killowatt Kookers

Ummmm, BBQ!

Saturday was a big day for Mason, we had a playdate with Jennifer, Richard, and Hayden that morning (I forgot that I had my camera in my bag). Then we drove out to see Drew, and Mason ate a TON of BBQ. That evening we had a playdate with Aiden and Eli, while I got to spend time with Ellen, Amy, and Sooze. We had a great time. Mason was thorougly tuckered out - he was asleep before we got to the end of Amy's street! In the meantime, the BBQ results were announced, and Kilowatt Kookers took Champion Brisket and 1st Runner Up, Overall - again.

Playing with Jim Sims' hat at the BBQ - he got too hot and had to shed some clothes!

Sunday, Drew met us at the hotel, and we drove back to East Texas where we spent the night with my family. That Monday, Mason and I drove into Tulsa - it was our first official road trip completely by ourselves, and it was an interesting one - between the torrential downpours, my pregnant bladder, and Mason's teething it was loads of fun to say the least!!

Oh no! I was hoping that you wouldn't get caught in that terrible rain storm. I'm glad you got home okay!! And too funny about the projectile vomiting in the car!! What a mess :)
